Troubleshooting

Experiencing Issues with Your Seeker Kit?

Explore common scenarios and solutions you can try.

Camera app losing connection when Seeker and camera are underwater

If your camera app loses connection when the Seeker and camera are placed underwater, try these steps:

  1. Set Camera WiFi Frequency to 2.4GHz: Ensure the camera WiFi frequency is set to 2.4GHz. Refer to the guide on “Setting Camera Wi-Fi Frequency to 2.4GHz” for detailed instructions. This adjustment is crucial to prevent connection loss when the camera is underwater.
  2. Ensure Software is Updated: Make sure both the camera and app software are updated to the latest versions. Manufacturers frequently release updates to improve connectivity and performance, which can resolve compatibility issues.
  3. Check Device Compatibility: Verify that your mobile device and its operating system are compatible with the camera app. Incompatible devices or outdated operating systems can cause connection issues. See our Action Camera App Guide for further details.
  4. Secure the Mobile Device: Place the mobile device securely in the Phone Holder, with the Transmitter attached to the back of the holder.
  5. Mount the Camera Properly: Ensure the camera is firmly pressed against the receiver and securely mounted.
  6. Force Close the Camera App: Swipe up on your display to force-quit the Camera App, then reopen it and try again.
  7. Reset Wi-Fi Connection: Disable and re-enable Wi-Fi on your camera in the Connections menu to refresh the connection and reduce interference by forcing a re-scan for the best 2.4GHz channel.
  8. Additional Assistance: For more help with connection issues, refer to the following manufacturer links: GoPro and DJI
Livestream not available while recording

Please note the following:

  • Camera Support: Not all cameras support livestreaming while recording.
  • Resolution and FPS Limitations: Some cameras do not support livestreaming while recording in high resolutions and FPS.
  • Compatibility Guide: Refer to our Camera Compatibility guide for full details on supported features.
Lag in action camera live preview

If you’re experiencing lag when using DJI Mimo or GoPro Quik for live preview, try these solutions:

Ensure Latest Software Updates

  • Install the latest firmware on your action camera to optimise performance and connectivity.
  • Update to the latest version of the camera app (DJI Mimo, GoPro Quik) to ensure compatibility and stability.

Optimise Mobile Device Performance

  • Close background apps and enable Airplane Mode with Wi-Fi on to prevent interference and improve stability.
  • Keep your device’s operating system up to date for the best performance.

Adjust Camera Settings for Smoother Preview

  • Disable RockSteady or HorizonSteady if lag persists to reduce processing strain.
  • Lower recording resolution and bitrate if experiencing stutters while previewing and recording, if not essential for your recordings.

Use a High-Speed MicroSD Card

  • While microSD cards do not directly affect live preview, a slow card can cause lag when recording and previewing simultaneously.
  • Use a UHS-I U3 V30+ card (Samsung PRO Ultimate, SanDisk Extreme Pro, Lexar 1066x).
  • Format the card in the camera for best performance.

Upgrade to a Better Phone or Camera

  • Use a high-performance phone or tablet (iPhone 13+, Samsung S22+, Pixel 8 Pro, Blackview Active 8 Pro) for improved processing power.
  • Consider upgrading to a later model action camera such as the DJI Action 4, DJI Action 5 Pro, or GoPro Hero13 for better connectivity and smoother performance.
Camera lens fogging up
  • Keep the Camera and Case Dry: Before placing the camera in the waterproof case, make sure both the camera and the interior of the case are completely dry. Moisture inside the case is a primary cause of fogging.
  • Use Antifog Spray: Apply a thin layer of antifog spray to the inside of the waterproof case. This helps to prevent condensation from forming on the lens.
  • Utilise Antifog Inserts: Place three antifog inserts inside the waterproof case, positioning them at various locations around the camera. These inserts absorb moisture and help keep the interior dry, significantly reducing the chance of fogging.
  • Avoid Sudden Temperature Changes: When moving between environments with different temperatures, allow the camera and case to acclimate to avoid condensation.
  • Store in a Dry Environment: When not in use, store your camera and case in a dry place to prevent moisture buildup.
